I was just taking a break from revision, when what did I stumble across but the beauteous UK cover for Catching Fire!
What do you think? I think it has more character than the US cover, but I can't really work out what it's meant to be! Snow maybe? I think the purple is a nice touch though - it's definitely eye-catching.
Well, you know I'm a huge sucker for UK covers, but I'm not sure how much I like this one. I like the Aussie (UK?) version of Hunger Games, but I still have to go with the simple symbolism of the US ones. Sorry! :)
I cannot wait for this book. I'm dying to know what happens next. Oh and the cover is definitelt not what I expected. It's such a different colour scheme to what they usually are. Hmm... nevertheless Catching Fire will be awesome.
Hmm, I think it's like a picture of grass or something that's been altered and made crazy colours. Not sure though, but it doesn't look like snow to me. (And I know snow.)
It was nothing like what I expected, but the more I see it, the better I like it. I actually prefer it over the US one, which just seems a bit too close to the US Hunger Games. Also, I'm hoping it's prettier in person, like our HG is
I likes it! The purple/white stuff makes me think of the sea or a river, when a boat has gone by - you know, the trail that the boats leaves for a few seconds before the water rushes back?
I'm not sure, having bought the book I can say it doesn't really match with the Hunger Games cover. I was hoping there would be another choose-your own cover with Gale, maybe. Not sure aobut the purple... but let me tell you, the book is AMAZING. Still thinking about it.
I am no longer a teen at all!! But I'm still so close that I might as well be one and I'm definitely not giving up YA books any time soon. Unfortunately my current workload has made it impractical for me to continue reviewing books, so while the site remains, there will be no more reviews at the current time.
I read and review mostly teenage fiction, but sometimes younger or older books get thrown in. If you are a publisher or author and would like me to review your book please contact me at bookshelfbabble[at]yahoo[dot]co[dot]uk and if you are not a publisher or author, feel free to email me with any queries anyway. I'm afraid I'm not accepting e-books at the moment.
Any other book reviewers out there looking for a link exchange are welcome to send me an email. I'm really disorganised, so if your blog's not on my blogroll it doesn't mean I don't like you, just that I've managed not to realise it's not there.
Disclaimer - Many of the books I review on here are bought or from the library, though sometimes I receive review copies from the publisher (if this is the case, I mention it at the end of the review). This does not affect my review of a book or make me more likely to review it - my reviews are simply my personal opinions and are completely honest.
Striking! (L)

ReplyDeleteOh wow! That's really cool!
ReplyDeleteI like it, but not as much as the US one. I don't know why, but I keep thinking the background looks like a map. Weird!

ReplyDeleteI love it. I am dying (not literally) to read this book. But I really, really, really (x666) want it.
